Emc3 Trends Report 2026

The EMC3 Trends Report was a design project focused on creating a visually engaging and professional trends report that could be presented across both digital and physical formats. The project involved designing an online version of the report alongside a printed brochure, ensuring that both formats maintained a consistent visual identity and communicated the research and insights clearly.

The report was designed entirely in Figma, with a strong focus on layout, typography, visual hierarchy, imagery, and accessibility. The digital report was created to provide an engaging online reading experience, while the printed brochure was developed as a tangible, high-quality version of the report for physical distribution.

OBJECTIVES

Create a strong and consistent visual identity for the EMC3 Trends Report across digital and print formats.

Develop a clear and engaging layout that allows complex trends, research, and information to be easily understood.

Design an online report that provides an intuitive and visually engaging user experience.

Create a professionally designed printed brochure that translates the digital design effectively into a physical format.

Use typography, imagery, colour, graphics, and spacing to create a modern and editorial-style publication.

Ensure consistency across all pages and formats while adapting the design appropriately for screen and print.

CHALLENGES

Designing for Multiple Formats:

One of the key challenges was creating a design system that worked effectively across both an online report and a physical printed brochure. Screen-based layouts and printed publications require different considerations around sizing, spacing, resolution, and readability.

Information Hierarchy:

The report contained a large amount of information and visual content, making it important to establish a clear hierarchy so that readers could quickly understand key statistics, trends, insights, and supporting information.

Maintaining Visual Consistency:

Ensuring that typography, colours, imagery, graphics, page layouts, and other visual elements remained consistent throughout the report was essential to creating a professional and cohesive publication.

Digital User Experience:

The online version needed to feel more interactive and engaging than a traditional printed document while still maintaining the editorial feel and structure of the physical brochure.

Print Considerations:

The printed brochure required careful consideration of page dimensions, margins, image quality, typography, colour reproduction, and the relationship between individual spreads and the overall publication.

PROPOSED SOLUTIONS

Figma-Based Design System:

Figma was used to create and manage the complete design system, allowing layouts, components, typography, imagery, and visual elements to be developed and refined efficiently across the project.

Editorial Layout:

A structured editorial layout was developed to organise the report content into clear sections, using typography, spacing, imagery, and graphic elements to guide the reader through the information.

Responsive Digital Design:

The online version was designed with the digital reading experience in mind, ensuring that content could be presented clearly and logically while taking advantage of the visual possibilities available within an online format.

Print Adaptation:

The digital design was adapted into a physical brochure, carefully considering page layouts, spreads, margins, image quality, typography, and print specifications to ensure the final design translated effectively from screen to paper.

Consistent Visual Language:

A unified visual language was maintained throughout both versions of the report, ensuring that the online and printed formats felt like part of the same overall campaign and publication.

CONCLUSION

The EMC3 Trends Report successfully brought together editorial design, digital publication, and print design within one cohesive visual system. By designing both the online report and physical brochure in Figma, the project created a consistent experience across different formats while allowing each medium to make the most of its own strengths.

The final outcome demonstrates the ability to take a large amount of information and transform it into a clear, engaging, and professionally designed publication, with particular consideration given to visual hierarchy, usability, consistency, and the differences between digital and physical design.
